The AC Switch Base is planned for release in the near future, but is not complete or for sale at this time.
Our AC Switch Base brings Touch Toggle control to vintage and modern O and S gauge twin-coil turnouts. Relay power switching handles the high currents and AC voltages of Lionel, MTH, and other 3-rail track switches. American Flyer S gauge track switches can be operated. Newer comparable turnout motors like the DZ1000 work well with this base too.
The AC Switch Base operates a single turnout, and is operated with a single Toggle. Two or more Toggles can control the same turnout together by adding a Multi-Input Adapter. The base is powered from the track power, or a constant voltage accessory supply, AC or DC from 8 to 20 volts.
Many three-rail turnouts have an “Anti-Derail” feature, letting the train throw the switch to permit the train’s travel without a problem. The AC Switch Base notices when this train-triggered operation happens, and changes the Touch Toggle indication to match the new switch position. The base will respond the same way from any other type of coil operator, whether manual, automatic, or from a throttle controlled system. This makes sure the Toggle display color will always show the actual switch position.
Many modelers use turnouts that are fitted with Atlas or Tortoise switch motors. These turnout motors normally use a Snap Action Base, or Direct Base respectively to power these turnouts. You can add the “Anti-Derail” feature to any control base with a Pulse-Follower Adapter.
Important Note:
Lionel’s TTMC and Legacy systems create enough radio-noise to false-trigger Touch Toggles. This means that Lionel TTMC owners will need to use our Pushbutton Toggles, created just to solve this incompatability. Pushbutton Toggles are immune to this interference and are fully compatible with all of our systems and components. They use a mechanical push button, mounted through a drilled hole, to operate the Toggle instead of a Touch.
Each Pushbutton Toggle comes with two socket mounted pre-wired LEDs for red or green indication. LEDs can be mounted standing up through holes, or below a clear plastic panel surface and graphic, shining a light through the panel just like the original Touch Toggles.
A Mini-Cup Fascia Mount with just the right holes is available just the same size and shape as our Mini-Cup Touch Toggles.
Pushbutton Toggles are connected using 3-pin Extensions, letting all cables to buttons and indicators be pre-wired plug-ins.
